Protest against the birds

Oh today has been a day. I went to the doctor yesterday because my ear was bugging me and I figured since I work outside and I love my job I didn't want to miss any work so I'd go to the doctor and have it checked out. Come to find out I have swimmers ear. Yeah the one who hates the water and hates swimming. Gets swimmers ear. So anyway I make it through work and I'm really tired because I didn't sleep at all last night. Anakin got to have a friend over today so we played headbands. (now let me tell you anyone who has small children and does not own this game, GO BUY IT) This game offers hours of entertainment. Specially when 3 boys under the age of 9 are picking your card that is placed on your forehead. I was so many funny things like a chicken, a turkey, camel, and for some reason they thought french fries were the best. Oh yeah I remember why the french fries were so funny, that's because when Ty's dad came to the door I still had it on my head when I answer it. All well something to talk about at work on Monday. After Ty left I told the boys I wanted to put are PJ's on and watch a movie. Well I was into being a good mom and had the idea to watch an educational movie. I find the movie called "Oceans". If you haven't seen it, its kinda like "March of the Penguins" Well I advice you with very small children not to watch this film. Through the whole movie both of my kids were "wowing" saying "mom look at that cool fish" Anakin kept asking me if it was real or pretend like "icarly" and "Good Luck Charlie". Both boys were completely amazed. At this point I'm feeling like a pretty good mom. My kids watching educational films right before bed. (oh yeah mom of the year right here). Well then it comes to the part were the baby sea turtles are laid as eggs in the sand. It show's the curtest little turtles crawling out of their eggs and trying to get to the ocean. TRYING being the key word. Then out of no where this wonderful education film turns into a horror film. While these sweet innocent little turtle are trying to get to the ocean. Yup you guessed it. Cue the birds. each of these sweet baby's are getting picked up and eaten by birds. OK now I know this is how things work the whole circle of life thing. But my boys were not having it. Carson asks "mom what are those birds doing are they eating the turtles" well I'm not going to lie to him about that so I say "yes honey" Anakin then says "I hate those birds they need to get eaten so they know what it feels like". Both boys are now talking back and forth to each other getting madder and madder at those birds. The movie goes on but my boys don't. They are now planning a trip to go to where the baby turtles are to protect them and help them get to the ocean with out those birds. They've got it all figured out. Anakins going to help them get to the ocean while Carson trough's rocks at the birds. Now I'm starting to think maybe this wasn't the best movie to pick right before bed. Both boys are really mad at those stupid birds. After the movie I tell them its time for bed and I walk them in their room, kiss them, and tell them goodnight, and turn out the light. As I'm in my room I hear them talking I decided I'm going to see what their talking about. I walk in there room and they have their light on writing down a list of how they can protect these baby turtles. Now don't get me wrong I was ecstatic they were working together. But they were no where near going to bed now. They were wide awake protesting these birds. My whole plan was to watch a nice movie and they would go nicely off to bed. Yeah that plan back fired. I decided next time were watching "Spongebob". I guess however they did learn something and they were working together so I guess it wasn't so bad. I just hope we don't wake up to nightmares tonight all over a Disney documentary. Oh and the list of ideas was priceless I'm going to sneak them out of their room tomorrow to put away. They were really putting a lot of thought into it. There is never a dull moment with those two.
